I new for a while that Landon was getting a little to big for his binky habit. When he was 2 1/2 we only let him have it for bedtime. That was going well except for the times he would hide them behind his back and then suck on them watching cartoons with his blanket covering half of his face. He thought he was being so sneaky. Finally his dentist told us that we should take it away when he was three so that it wouldn't effect his teeth. I just dreaded the day. I kept putting it off. But I thought now would be a better time than ever because I am still getting up in the middle of the night with Liam. So the day came. My mom had thought of the idea of putting them in a box and sending them to Binkyland. I found a perfect sized box and got out some paper. Landon ahead of time new what was up. He started to throw a huge temper tantrum. You know the ones where he is gasping for air and thinks he is going to die. Oh the drama! So I decided to wait and try until he calmed down. I was really trying to have a lot of compassion for him. He has never slept a night without them since he was born. If we couldn't find any we would make a late night run to the store. So after dinner he saw me cutting out shapes and he wanted to participate. It went great! He had one last suck and them out them in the box. Then we walked him to the mailbox and let him put it in. Now going to sleep didn't go so smooth. He cried for about 45 mins and then got up several times in the night coming into our room asking for them. But every night since then it has gotten better and better. I am so proud of him. I told him he was a brave soldier. He loves it when I tell him that. We also bought him the movie Polar Express to reward him.
