Well it's been two years since my last post… Not sure what made me quit blogging for so long, but I am going to try and get up to speed. I will have to skip a lot of stuff and not give details or else I'll be sitting in front of this computer for weeks! Sooooo, here goes. In late February of 2014, Cam deployed to Afghanistan. What was supposed to be a 5 month deployment turned into 9. It was a super long 9 months. You try and not countdown the weeks that turn into months, but you cannot help yourself. It was difficult to juggle two active boys by myself. The birthdays that we celebrated, school functions that you attend by yourself, the emotional turmoil your kids have from worrying about daddy in war. Oh, and the endless things that go wrong and break in your home that you just deal with and figure it out alone. Not to mention trying to keep a strong relationship with your spouse thousands of miles away. But I survived. Like most army wives, you just figure it out and try and keep your head up. When I was feeling down I relied on my faith to keep me going and I would remind myself that it truly is an honor to be a army wife. You serve just like your husband but in a different way. You can keep them going and strong by being positive while they are away and support what he is doing. I was so excited for his homecoming! The day had finally come. He had flowers delivered the day he came home which was super thoughtful. It put my nerves at ease. I felt like it was a first date or something. Oh, and of course his homecoming got rescheduled… We finally got to see our soldier at 2:30 am a few days before thanksgiving. Yes, 2:30 am… I honestly was so excited to see him it didn't matter at that point.
The next big thing for our family was Landon's baptism. He had to wait about 6 months after his birthday because of Cams deployment. Danette and Bob and also Shaun and Josh flew in for it and it was nice to have family there since we live in Colorado with no one close. Bob and Danette gave him his own set of scriptures and Bob also gave a talk on Baptism. He did a fantastic job! Landon was so excited to have his daddy finally home and to be able to be baptized by him! It was a super special day!
Soon after the baptism we celebrated Christmas and found out that we were expecting!!! Cam and I wanted another baby and had talked about it before he deployed. We were a little surprised on how fast it happened though. We were both were super excited and let our families know on Christmas day. They were all a little shocked because Liam was 5 and probably thought like we did a not to long ago that we were done. It was a fun little gift to give on that day that we were going to add to our family.
Another fun surprise that we told the boys about on Christmas day was that in one week we were leaving for Disney World! I had planned the trip during Cams deployment and it was so hard to keep that secret from them. It had been a rough year with their daddy gone so I couldn't wait to spend quality family time together at one of the happiest places on earth. The only downside was I wasn't able to ride the rides because of my pregnancy. I just didn't want to take any chances. Also I had horrible nausea and was so tired I felt like I was drugged. Walking around Disney everyday is like running a marathon. Seeing how happy my boys were made every bit of it worth it. We spent a full week and went to all of the parks.
