Summer part 1

What a busy summer! Knowing we had a baby on the way and by the time July rolled around I'd be getting very uncomfortable, we tried to fit in everything we wanted to do in May and June. The day after school got out in May my parents came in for a visit. We went to Garden of the Gods, Helen Hunt Falls, and Canon City to the Royal Gorge Bridge. Even though they came to see us, I really wanted to them some of the cool sites near my house.

After their visit, we drove up to South Dakota to see Mount Rushmore. Rapid City actually has a lot to do! We stayed a few nights so we went to Jewel Cave. Which besides the hotel pool it was the funnest part of the trip for the boys. Jewel Cave is the second longest cave in the world. There were A LOT of stairs but the boys did great and thought it was pretty neat. Mount Rushmore was super cool for me to see in person. One of the things I can check off the bucket list. Then before we headed home we drove through Custer State Park. The animals roaming around reminded me of Yellowstone.  The buffalo and the landscape were beautiful! Well worth the 14 hr round trip!
